Okay, another crazy yet fun idea to re-purpose one of those scarves from that tangled up pile. Did you try out the last idea here?

This one is for a little lady...

And the fringes just flap around with each step.
Quite sassy.

**Suggestion: Try to cut into a scarf (or sweater) as little as possible. For any project. It's hard to cut the scarf and then sew it back together because of the woven pattern in each scarf. It's hard to get a strong seam.....with all of those loose ends of the woven scarf. So with each of these projects, I try to use the original sides or ends of each scarf as much as possible. It makes your project a lot easier. Just though I'd mention that.

Start with a wide and stretchy scarf with a stringy fringe at each end. Make sure the width will fit around the front half of your little girl's waist and legs.

Then cut off enough from both ends (front and back piece) to have enough length for the skirt and a casing for the elastic at the top. And then add some more length to that because once she puts it on and stretches it out, it will shorten in length. Make sense?

Then sew it together along both sides, staying really close to the edge. And then make another seam or a zig-zag seam. (I know, it looks pretty narrow....but it stretches well.)

**I cut a lot of length off of the fringe. But left just enough to give some movement.**

Then make yourself a casing for your elastic. (Need help? Use this tutorial here.)

That's it. Another quick and easy little scarf project.
Go on, give it a try!

Do you have a pile of winter accessories? Are there several scarves all tangled together, waiting for another winter to roll around? Or did you buy several at the end of last season because $0.50 for a scarf is hard to pass up......so why not buy 7? (So maybe that last one is what happened to me. And with a pile of clearanced scarves, what was I going to do with them all?)

I have a Scarf Re-purpose series for you all to see.............re-purposing scarves into something else.

Part I?

A sweet little hat for any little guy or girl, no matter the age.
Perfect for adults too.

Start with a wide scarf that has fringe at each end. (Test it out to make sure the the width of the scarf will stretch wide enough for the front half of the head.)

Then take enough off each end of the scarf to give the hat enough length plus several more inches to be folded under. (I added a good 3-4 inches.....because as it stretches it shortens.)

Then the two pieces together along each side......leaving the bottom and top open.

Turn right side out and then gather the scarf fringe in one hand.......

And then use thick thread (quilting thread), yarn, string, or anything strong enough to wrap tightly without breaking. Wrap your string right below the fringe, winding very tightly to seal off the top.

Then turn under the bottom edge of the hat and sew into place. And if you need to sew it several times to keep the threads of the scarf from unraveling, go ahead do so. Make your stitches big so that you don't stretch out the scarf as you're sewing. Otherwise after you tuck it under, it won't lay flat.

Try it on yourself, your little one, or whoever it's for and measure the length of hat you'd like. Fold under the rest and pin in place.

Then, along the side seams, tack the inside flap in place by sewing and back-stitching over and over again.

(And if necessary, trim the ends of your fringe, so that it looks more like a pom-pom rather than a pony tail... Haha!)

That's it.
Easy, quick, and cozy.

Mmmm......I love to feel like a lady. So these fun pieces at great prices are right up my alley. So I'm definitely going. Yep, I'm completely intrigued and want to see one of these Recessionista parties in action. (And if you're going to be there, it would be great to meet any of you.)

Need a great gift idea? Or even something new for yourself? Check out these burp cloths found here. The styles are endless.

Oh, and I about died when I saw these little snuggly little Blankets by AllyZabby found here. The incredibly soft texture will be sure to find its way into a child's arms.

First of all, thanks for the great response for the tie pattern. Wow. You've all been seriously kind. And good luck with creating them. You'll have a great time!

Okay, on to a new pair of pants that I made for my little lady.

Nice and comfy pants......at no cost to me. I used the same pattern as the pants here. But this time I cut out a flower shape and added a ruffle.

I used an old pink t-shirt and some scraps of a brown knit shirt for the backing. Make note that my flower isn't perfect and if you make different size petals, it adds character. (at least that's what I tell myself!!) So you can free-hand some petals or cut some out with paper and trace around them onto the pant leg before sewing it all together. And I used more of the brown to create a ruffle around the bottom. I decided the length that I wanted it (add an inch or two for growth....) and then made it twice as wide as the length of the pant leg all the way around. That will ensure a good gather. If you're new to creating a ruffle, use the tutorial here. I didn't hem the top or the bottom though because I used knit, which doesn't fray.

And that's it.

Another pair of pants for your little miss to feel comfortable in.

The TIE PATTERN

.
Looking for the Teacups and Mudpies giveaway? Scroll down or click here.

____________________________________________________________

Yay......I have finally finished the little guy tie pattern.

Sorry for the delay. It just takes a bit of time to translate everything I do, into written instructions.

But it's done.

And I have a feeling you're going to just love this.

And yeah, not only because each little boy needs a tie.....but because he needs 5 or 6.
All made by you.

(which is possible at the price it will cost you to make them yourself.)

This handsome little boy tie is the perfect little addition to spruce up any outfit. With this pattern you'll be able to make many sizes, use any fabric, and match a variety of outfits. The adjustable neck is great for boys of all sizes and can be worn under a collar or has a finished look that can be worn exposed. It doesn't matter the time of year, your little guy will look his best for any occasion in his new tie.

The pattern includes directions for children’s sizes 0-6 months through 3T. (7.5, 9, 10.5, and 12 inch ties.)

The pattern is best for beginner/intermediate sewers. However, I have included almost 40 pages of very detailed pictures/instructions for even the most beginner sewers to give a try.

Hey, why not? It's a project that's worth making....many times.

Just look at that tie wrapped around that chunky little neck and covering up that sweet pudgy belly. I just want to squeeze my little guy to bits every time he wears his little ties.
Such a handsome little fella.

Buy the pattern in my etsy shop here.

I'm still working on the bootie pattern.
It will be another week or two before it's done.
